CBRE UK’s Monthly Industrial & Logistics is an overview of the ‘big box’ sector specifically focusing on warehouses in excess of 100,000 sq ft and an eaves clearance of 10 metres. Key highlights include total take-up by region, construction projects, availability, and key occupational and investment deals to date in 2017.

This edition provides direct comparison for take-up for Q1 2017 against Q1 2016 on a regional, quality and sectoral basis

Highlights include:

  • Take-up in Q1 2017 was more than 1 million sq ft higher than the corresponding period in 2016, although e-commerce take-up remained flat
  • The retail sector continues to drive take-up, accounting for some 48% of the let space
  • The automotive and construction industries had strong representation in Q1
  • Availability of Grade A units has fallen by 6% over the past month
  • The East and West Midlands, as well as the South East have been the most active regions for take-up over the past 12 months
  • The East Midlands has seen construction commence on a number of pre-let schemes over the past month

CBRE UK’s Monthly Industrial & Logistics is an overview of the sector which highlights total take up by region, facility construction underway, availability, and key occupational and investment deals over the last quarter.

Highlights include:

  • Total take up in 2016 reached record highs, up approximately 10,000 sq. ft. from 2015
  • Over 50% of take-up is being driven by e-commerce and retail
  • The East and West Midlands, as well as the South East have been the most active regions for take up
  • There is currently 6 months availability of Grade A supply and 18 months of Second Hand supply
